Good post Larry.

The drop of 2nd phone lines have come about in two phases. More use od DSL/Cable and the invention of smart chip on dial-up modems called call waiting modems. Lets you hear an incoming call while on net and ask it while still online. maker of the chip is LU, surprised?

T has been in deep trouble for a while. I have not like the stock for quite sometime. Even though some here thought the stock was attractive because is was T, the company kept making misstep after misstep. You don't raise rates by 8% when the competition(wirless, internet telephony) are much LOWER rates for usage. This is not the 70's when they had a monopoly. If they keep charging 0.25 per minute for long distance, T will price themselves right out of business.

The future lies in wireless. Deals keep getting better. My provider offers 3250 min. (thats over 50 hours) of talk time for 29.95. Cost $20 from BLS just to have a phone line.

Larry---thanks for comments on Telco's. Have my eye on BCE--have followed for years and plan to scale-in shortly. The 7% yield is secure in my opinion and that's tough to find in today's fixed rate environment.
