Dan, Re : (from the post tyou responded to) There seems to be some life left in the P6-core: the 0.13 micron Celeron Tualatin will reach 1.4 GHz in Quarter 2, and it is possible it will touch 1.5 GHz at the end of his life (Q4 of 2002)."

Would this surprise you ? I remember you posting more than once implying, that .13 is maxed out at 1.26MHz. You had calculated that Intel would thus gain only 26% from .13 transition and how then P4 .13 scaling be in trouble ? If this article is correct you would have underestimated .13 by about half.

Would that change the competative landscape with P4 .13 in your mind ?

Maui.

Dan3, Re: "That's the price you pay when you're a follower, and not a leader: you have to kluge your parts to work with the standard the industry leader has established. Your stuff winds up costing more and not working as well."

Excellent analysis of AMD's practices.
