Unholy War - Return to Afghanistan (Saira Shah)
fyi.cnn.com

Many of us saw the CNN broadcast of "Beneath the Veil" featuring Saira Shah. This weekend CNN is broadcasting her new documentary...

Saira Shah was raised in Britain but her father's homeland is Afghanistan. Months before the terrorist attacks of September 11 brought Afghanistan into the world spotlight, she traveled to Afghanistan to record the impact of the Taliban's harsh rule for her documentary "Beneath the Veil."

She recently returned to Afghanistan, this time crossing the border into the area controlled by the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance. For Shah, the trip was a personal quest to check on three girls she met while doing her earlier documentary. A Taliban soldier shot their mother to death in front of them and when Shah first interviewed them, they had been crying for days and were nearly unable to describe the horrific trauma. Now their village is on the front line of the fighting and Shah wanted to find out if they were safe.
