Jack,

IDC compares apples to apples. IDC will breakout hardware by defined type, software, and so on. That makes it easier to look at how a company like IBM is doing in the market, and from a market share standpoint makes sense.

For example, of the $288 in Q3, 51.9 was software, 25.9 was net caching, and the remaining 210.2 is NAS. IDC numbers do add up.

Sooooo, IDC is wrong because you don't how to distinguish between NAS hardware, NAS software and Caching Hardware. Well, at least you demonstrate the willingness to use facts. How can anyone fault that kind of attitude?
