The population densities of Vermont and Maine verge on the level of the Dakotas. Drive about an hour west of Newton on the Mass. Turnpike: most of it is extremely rural, with piddling small towns. Judging by the incidence of amenities (filling stations, restaurants, phone banks), there is very little between New Haven and Providence, or Providence and Boston, along the Interstate. Just to give some examples.......
