Ozone

Ozone gas is created when a single Oxygen (O) atom joins with an Oxygen molecule (O2) to form O3.

As I'm NOT an expert in this field ....
these comments are from memory only from a lifetime ago in long forgotten chem class .....

ozone is an inert gas, in that it is not easily combined into/with another compound

it is formed by the method with which I started this post, and it is, at normal temp and pressure, a relatively unstable inert gas ....
by unstable, I mean that it tends to lose that single Oxygen atom to revert to O2 /////

however, and this could be what is leading to your question .....
that SINGLE Oxygen atom can NOT exist freely and easily in the natural surroundings we humans enjoy

this single atom QUICKLY finds another single atom and unites to form a normal regular ol everday oxygen molecule .....

so ... you got more from the D in Chem than you thought you did ....gggggg
