Beamer - Re: "Alienware system says that it includes 512KB of cache. Is it a typo, or could this be one of the first Northwood systems being advertised?"

Now that was an interesting observation on your part - GOOD WORK !

Alienware's web site lists this model (Area-51) quite a bit differently - as a 1.9 GHz Pentium 4 - and no mention of a 512K cache.

Interesting Analyses of Microsoft's XBOX.

Several Web Sites have bought them and dissected them revealing that:

1. The Intel 733 MHz CPU DOES not need a fan - just a passive heat sink.

2. The NVIDIA graphics processor unit/CHIP SET DOES NEED a fan AND a heat sink !!

3. The Intel chip has only 128 K of L2 cache - and appears to be a Celeron as opposed to a Pentium ///.
