I agree that this is a big part of what is gating people from upgrading their PCs. On the other hand, it also presents a big opportunity for those companies that invest heavily in networking infrastructure. It's another reason why CSCO and INTC are part of my portfolio.

Not really. Almost any computer can handle the 1MBytes/s rate
without a hiccup. Even K6-300 is just fine. I see
no difference in Internet handling whatsoever when
switching routinely between a 1GHz Athlon, a 675 P-III,
or K6-300 via a KVM box. I have a cable modem.

Steve my Son's 450Mhz K6-2+ runs just fine with a 3 Mbps connection to internet(Cable Modem & a Router).

He even plays RtCW with a V2 1000 at 640x480.
