Instead they have been taken into ATT Broadband making ATHM look even weaker. They say it will be over in a month. I hope so. Actually, the longer this goes on the worse it will be for ATT because market conditions will improve and ATHM will look more and more like a potentially solvent business. **********************************************From the ATT Broadband help site for ATHM service: Answers to Commonly Asked Questions About the Recent E-mail Communication You May Have Received from AT&T Broadband. I received a letter from AT&T Broadband telling me to backup my personal Web page and e-mail files. Does this mean that AT&T@Home customers will be losing service? Since Excite@Home filed for bankruptcy, we have committed to communicating with our customers about the status of their service. While we cannot be certain of the final court decision regarding Excite@Home's bankruptcy filing, we are working with Excite@Home management and the court to continue delivering uninterrupted high-speed cable Internet service. AT&T Broadband has always encouraged its customers to periodically save their browser bookmarks, personal Web page files, address book and e-mail files to their desktop, disk or CD. These steps are commonly practiced for increased safety against unforeseen events such computer crashes, network outages and/or virus infections. What specific contingency plans does AT&T Broadband have to ensure that its customers receive no service disruptions? We are working with Excite@Home's independent board of directors and the bankruptcy court to provide customers with uninterrupted high-speed cable Internet service. AT&T has proposed purchasing certain Excite@Home network assets. This proposed asset purchase is subject to court approval. While we cannot be certain of the final court decision, we believe that our proposal provides the best outcome for Excite@Home customers and creditors. However, if the court approves an alternate transaction we will evaluate our alternatives. How will AT&T Broadband keep me informed about changes to my high-speed cable Internet service as a result of Excite@Home's recent filing for Chapter 11? Information about any changes to your service may be communicated through letters mailed through U.S. Mail, e-mail messages sent to your primary AT&T@Home account, and bulletins posted in the Announcements and Updates section of the Online Customer Support Center at help.broadband.att.com . When visiting the Online Customer Support Center, please enter your ZIP code to receive regionally specific information. When will the bankruptcy courts rule on the future of Excite@Home? We hope that the court will reach a final decision before the end of the calendar year.Has AT&T Broadband migrated its former MediaOne Road Runner customers to the Excite@Home platform? No. We have not migrated customers to Excite@Home's platform nor does AT&T Broadband use the Road Runner network. As part of previously announced agreements, we have incorporated parts of the former Road Runner network into an AT&T Broadband network. Customers served by this network do receive Excite@Home content. Why isn't AT&T Broadband also bidding for the Portal/content assets? AT&T Broadband provides cable services and does not desire to operate a narrowband content portal business.
