Maybe I'm naive, but I just cannot for the life of me imagine General Patton while charging wild-eyed across the German countryside even allowing an attorney to be in his presence, much less actually seek his advice.

But he was demoted for PC considerations, not his fighting capabilities. Certainly polotics must play a role in running a civilian army but bill clinton took it to an extreme and turned the military into a social experiment.
