<No wonder Musharraf knew which side of his bread had butter on it.>
Butter, I doubt, highest risks, yes.He exactly knew that our future is bleak on the other side. The gauntlet was thrwon by Islamists, he accepted it with courasge. That what dictated his decision.
These documents for me are like vindication of my positions. They clearly indicate that prior to 11th Sept rather up until that day and after that until last few days, the general propaganda carried out by sinister media was that Pakistan switch sides only on threat would be now baseless figments.
The documents clearly indicate that Pakistan was using its good offices to lead them on the right path; I can understand the wish of extremists on both ends to burn the world but as a government, Pakistan have come clean that is a nice feeling. Imagine if instead of internet downloaded articles we would have found enriched Uranium and designs of the bombs made by Pakistanis, don’t forget that what media was telling us until last week, I was trying to explain that media is trying to get Pakistan and Afghanistan on same pedestal so as to square them one time, naturally some powers had an interest in that decimation of my country. President Bush took a right decision that saved out neck, we will now be able to tackle the problems of our nation is a great feeling.
The Islamization drive in Afghanistan and Pakistan was never ever challenged, the power of street is considered as something of demonic strength, after Khomieni triumphant coming and taking over Teheran, every Muslim government nightmare is to be afraid of street. The man we call as dictator did something that no one has ever tried since Islamic revolution in Iran, he challenged the street and got results. This is sign of strong man and not a weak man, a true leader, mush as many can overlook the contribution of this man even his fiercest enemy within non-Islamic world agree that his contribution and throwing of gauntlet to the extremists was the bet of highest risks for our country. The feeling that Pakistan would not come of out it intact was rampant, but I knew it we will go through it, as world was prisoner to its own media propaganda that Pakistan is failed state. We were not, we knew as whole where our interest lies. Islamic states lot stock and barrel have shown extreme disregard of world opinion when it mattered the most. Like Iraq in 90’s, Sudan in case of southern discrimination, Libya in case of Lockerbie, Arafat by losing territory and ending up with Municipality rule which in 1967 was available for whole of the west bank. This sad saga of missing opportunities was broken once for all was broken, a cursed past was forgotten by Pakistan. Going by textbook of Islamic nations we should have gone on path of self imposed destruction not construction the rewards would be in heavens, we lived for this mortal world for the moment that is a break. That is also negation of generic ingrained ideology.
The papers found clearly indicate that our Foreign ministry and government was taken a hostage by the Talebin, we needed some government who many not stab us from the back, the lack of Afghans education and their ability to continue feuds for centuries were factors that we could not have handled. Our weakness not to confront them because of 35 million Pushtuns in our country would have not agreed to our confrontational approach, our lacklustre attitude to continue with the status quo was considered as we being in bed with them. But the world changed on 11th sept, comes the time comes the hero.
Now that beards have been shaved by freewill of Afghans, women freedom and freedom from shackles of poverty is biggest revolution that will derail the extremist lobbies agendas completely.
Nothing even million of bombs would have destroyed the confidence of the mullahs and their believe that population is with them to reincarnate the antiquated, outmoded system they had created. Aimless wandering of Omar and his thousands of extremist followers need to curtailed and that is by education and better health. Now the Mullahs have recognised that people want freedom and they want to live freely, the unfolding of events in Afghanistan chapter must have given some real bad dreams to Iranian Mullahs, this is going to break the dam in Iran soon as reformist will assert themselves, the revolution of street in Kabul would not go unnoticed. The government in Saudi Arabia will not be much impacted since its core hard-liners are in line with wishes of majority where double standards of living are appreciated, the change of dresses on flights out of Saudi by the Princes are legendary from ‘shuttlecock veils to see through shorts.’ We al see it day in day out, they can easily live with this hypocrisy like Osama brother Saleh who is a hot karaoke singer in Paris and sings near sacre-coeur every time he is in Paris. Tom Jones his favourite songs, you get best wines and food free, if you sit for the whole three hours, hundreds of young people invite themselves in for his shows of Tom Jones style singing. I have been a part few time although loved that Saudi Karaoke singer of Ben Laden empire hated the hypocrisy of the whole thing that if singing is so good why can’t whole nation of Saudi can sing Tom Jones inside. Inside Osama likes luxury and compartmentalisation outside he is a new Messiah.
American war of Independence was a standard bearer of French revolution, in same vein I don’t see that unfolding of events in Kabul may not bring some real changes in Islamic world. I would be saddened if the western civilisation let this opportunity of proving real education and equality to pass the Islamic world, I see a window here, a possibility of a Marshall plan for education and a new educational and health. New Jihad- al- Asghar of opening up of new schools and colleges in Islamic world will help the change of this extremist canvass. I see a bright ray of hope, I see waft of freedom in the air.
The whole game and claim that we are fighting for people of Afghanistan or Islam is out now. For PAKSITAN the good news is that these documents reveal that they were not doubling crossing US. They were honest brokers and contrary to media speculation their relationship with Talebin was quite superficial.
Diplomatically if anything else the burying of this old claims would be helpful, it also buries the big assumption that Pakistan was legitimising their control, now everyone knows that no one can control Afghanistan, least of that Pakistan. The killing of 15,000 self invited Pakistanis to ‘Afghan Jihad party’ ( this party everyone knew had one way entry ticket only-the doors of exit are now closed in Kunduz) is one way helpful these extremists had taken our country hostage, we could not have gotten rid of them, we could not afford our ‘Waco’ now of their own free will to be eliminated in the way of Allah is a blessing in disguise for both parties, they are happy we are too. Good riddance, crule it may sound but sometime life has to be crule to people who cannot respect dignity and and greatest gift of God to all of us the life itself. |
