Four US aircraft today launched an attack of unprecedented intensity on Taliban positions near Kunduz, witnesses said. A B-52 carried out the first raids around 8:00 am (0330 GMT), following which three F-16s appeared, dropping at least three bombs in the area. By 10:00 am (0530 GMT) a B-52 and an F-16 were still raiding the Taliban positions.
