The post of Poet's that started all this, back about a month or so ago, made negative inferences about our young men in uniform, which I took personal exception to since (as Poet well knows) my son is serving proudly in the Air Force defending the rights of certain people to continue to think and write what they do. I believe it to be untrue that "Poet made negative inferences about our young men in uniform." I believe you will be unable to produce any post in which Poet did what you claim. I believe you are telling a self-serving untruth about Poet. I believe that all you will be able to produce is posts in which Poet takes exception to Carolyn and others of her moronic ilk calling dissenters from our current military policy "traitors," posts in which Poet defends our right of free expression, our right even to disagree with government policy--a right you yourself value highly, I believe. I support our military policy because I take those Muslims who say it (and some who don't, aloud) at their word when they say they want to destroy us and our culture and our country and our economy and our democracy. I also consider Carolyn's ilk not to be patriots, but only to be "patriots." In quotes. Flag-waving and calling those who exercise their First Amendment rights traitors does not impress me as the personification of love of our country. I noticed on IHub that you said that on SI < liberals are referring to "patriots" in question marks.> I presume you meant Poet was ridiculing patriotism, since your IHub post was made shortly after Poet posted as below: Message 16517444 That comment on IHub would create the impression there that "liberals" were doing on SI what the scurrilous Katha Pollitt did to the heroes of September 11 with her quotation marks, ie, "heroes." But Poets "inference" (I assume you meant implication) was not about our "young men in uniform," and was not even about patriots or patriotism. It was about fools who call dissenters traitors. Is Poet's post at the link above the one you have told this thread was Poet "making negative inferences about our young men in uniform"? Was Poet's post at the link above the one you effectually characterized on IHub as ridiculing actual patriots for their patriotism, as opposed to ridiculing merely those clueless assholes who call those who disagree with their views "traitors"? Please produce Poet's "negative inferences about our young men in uniform." Such a post of hers is what you say "started all this." Please produce Poet's insult to our young men in uniform. I will be very surprised if you can do more than make a claim that is beneath you, that anyone who objects to dissenters in America being called traitors is "making negative inferences about our young men in uniform."
