Saroush, both you and IGIT make excellent points. And believe me, I share in your frustration regarding Amein's unwillingness to dialogue further into difficult areas of the Koran. I especially cannot understand the shutting down of exchange of ideas, especially when they are presented in a respectful straight forward manner.

It may simply be asking too much after the events of 9/11 for a follower of the Koran to openly acknowledge the role their faith has played in the atrocity. And how that faith can be misused so easily by those who want to wreak havoc on our planet.

I doubt whether the world would be so forgiving of Catholicism if a few of their Bishop's decreed a holy war on the west, and rallied their followers to give up their life to the cause of death and destruction of America. Yet, we've seen more than one Muslim religious leader calling forth this kind of action, or defending the nut-cases who are using Islam for their latest fanatical rantings.

So, something does appear to be missing in the Koran, or at least left open enough for interpretation that evil men can use it to further their cause for power and control of others. But I'm hopeful, if enough people are educated about the world and eachother, they won't fall prey toward those words with the same determined amount of followers as it appears today.
