Who are the people behind this?

Bill,

I never heard of any of them except the Mouawad family. I do not "play" in the extremely high end often so my lack of knowing these people could jut be my plain ignornance. I have hear of the Mouawad family through the link below and that firm. That site is not their main business.

That family is really a large site hold from what I understand and their investment in Mondora is "toy money" to them. This is in Carlsbad, CA.

"The Mouawad family's association with the gem and jewelry industry goes beyond just dealing in fine jewelry. Any recent graduate from the Gemological Institute of America, the top institute for gemological studies in the world, will immediately recognize the name.

That's because the main campus of the GIA's new world headquarters, in Carlsbad, California, is named after Robert Mouawad. In recognition of their father's lifetime contributions to the industry and the sacrifices he made to build the company, Robert's three sons Fred, Alain and Pascal secured this impressive distinction. The contribution they made also went towards providing young gemologists from around the world with scholarships to study at the GIA. This is just part of an ongoing commitment to upholding and maintaining the image of the industry--for both trade members and consumers"

The main "power" this family had was 50+ years ago when DeBeers really had control. That is not to diminish their current role.
