Hi, Marie. Did you see the movie? I've read the reviews on it and haven't found a favorable one yet.

I agree with you that it's wonderful that kids have started reading these books. I have a friend, a somewhat gruff geezer, who started reading his grandson's copies and just loved them.

Here's a cartoon on the subject.

Isn't it a wonderful phenomenon!!!
No paying the kids to read. No incentives necessary! The magic of the books is enough. And that is REAL magic. The gift of intrinsic motivation for reading. There is no greater magic than that.

I am so pleased to hear about your 7 year old grandson. That is really wonderful. Thanks for sharing and welcome to Kissy Kissy.

Hi Marie,

My husband I went to the movies Friday night and there were long Disneyland type lines of little boys in robes and black glasses with tape. The energy level was intimidating- it was like a carnival. I wished my boys were still little so we could have shared the excitement. I had no idea Harry had grown so HUGE.
INstead we went to a truly abysmal "grown-up" movie that I won't even tell you the name of it was so bad.
You are so lucky to have a grandchild to use as an excuse to do the really fun things! We are between kids and grandkids...
Welcome to SI!
