I found the following quote at CNN in an article:
cnn.com
"The troops ringing the city, the last remaining Taliban stronghold in northern Afghanistan, are poorly armed and may not be able to launch a full-scale assault against Konduz, according to reports."

What could they possibly have been thinking when they wrote that? I think it is safe to assume hat someone in the Taliban has access in the internet, and that this information will fall into the hands of the Taliban personnel in Konduz. This presumably would make them more reluctant to surrender. Is that their intent? To prolong the war so as to continue to have news to report? Or perhaps the information presented was false, and they want to see the Taliban troops slaughtered? I can't think of any possible valid reason for writing it. Am I missing something here?
