Left alone to its misery, I believe the country has the potentials of creating many more Bin Ladins......
Assuming we get an Afghan gov't that will cooperate and is not too corrupt, I believe the US should provide something like a Marshall Plan for the country to ease its transition from war and to build it up and bring it into the modern world. That may prevent more monsters. This is in our and their best interests. We might get a prosperous and peaceful state out of it.

But we did not create bin Laden. One of his main complaints are US troops in Saudi Arabia. They are there at the request of the Saudi gov't and their purpose is to dissuade Saddam from attacking Saudi Arabia.

As to Saddam and those sanctions: in return for ending our invasion of Iraq during the Gulf War and leaving him in power (a grotesque mistake by Bush I), Saddam agreed to numerous terms. It is his violation of those terms that has caused the sanctions to continue.

Arabs and Paks will not be part of that government. The non Afghans in Kunduz should NOT be turned over to the Red Cross or the UN...

If they are - I'll bet a few of them will be applying for student visas in the US in the next several years...

These non Afghan Taleban and Al Quaida have been torturing and killing Afghans for years (just executed 150 Afghan Taleban who wanted to surrender in Kunduz friday)... They have several instances of Paks or Chechens pretending to surrender and then detonating grenades or explosives to kill themselves and their captors...

Let the Afghans have them - if they choose to kill all the foreign Taleban and Al Quaida - it is their choice (and IMO the right one).
