If you are unable to connect the dots for yourself, then it is you who are lacking. I acknowledge that I'm lacking. Like Michael, I was raised Catholic. I studied catechism, not the Bible. As someone who was not raised on the Bible, I find it quite impenetrable. There are lots of subjects about which I know little or nothing, other areas in which I'm quite experienced. One of the nice things about venues like this is that we can share our expertise and draw upon the expertise of others. When we make points that go over the heads of others, we explain them. We were talking about pros and cons of national IDs and you offered the "number of the beast" as a con. I don't have the Biblical background to understand how a prophesy about a beast assigning numbers to people for commerce obviates the US using it's technology to make it's IDs safe from forgery. Since IDs may turn out to be an important national policy issue, it would be helpful if someone who "gets it" would explain it for the benefit of those of us who don't. Karen
