Oh yes, a porcelain on gold crown is excellent. They look so much like natural teeth that I hardly know which ones are my own unless they have fillings in them, and the gold adapts perfectly to the root. I have one that's been on for over 25 years and never a problem.

Some silver does get consumed, and if gold were cheap enough it would find additional uses, I think.

I think it takes about 20% annual inflation of currency to start a real run for hard assets.
