the Saudi made a mistake to create a Western style culture in the desert. What are you talking about when you say western style culture? You mean driving cars, living in houses, perhaps - what? They live in a rigidly puritanical Islamic society. Women aren't allowed any freedoms - not even to drive a car. Men are allowed 4 wives at a time with the easiest divorces in the world. Their government is a monarchy. There is no democracy, no freedom of speech, religion, press, etc. etc. They chop off hands of thieves and behead people regularly. It is one of the most non-westernized countries in the world. They outlawed slavery officially in about 1962 for PR reasons, though it likely still exists.
