Mr. Stevenson, the repeated banning of you from this thread is disgraceful. This action alone has given me quite an *understanding* of the mindset behind many followers of the Islamic faith.

An enlightened day may one day come whereby people of the Islamic faith can openly disagree with passages in their holy book. Unfortunately, that time is not now.

Although I have not been banned from this thread, or from any thread on SI since I joined over five years ago. I will not post here again, because, to me it's a charade of a thread, built and maintained on a false premise. That being, to gain a better understanding of the Islamic faith.

This thread should be titled:

"Positive Islam only posts, all disagreement and difficult questions regarding the faith will not be welcomed".

At least that would be honest.

Nothing you have said here should have caused you to be banned according to the thread title. Yet, you and have been banned, as have eight other posters.

Free speech is too important a concept for me to ignore this silencing forever. When Islam is ready to accept free speech as a valuable guide toward understanding the world around them. Democracy, freedom and enlightenment may begin to flourish in that corner of the world.

Until then, we can only bring the insecure logic of this mental model to thinking Muslims attention. And create the environment around which they may want to shift directions in the future.

America is the bastion of free thinking, free expression, free dialogue, and free worshipping. And that candle of freedom is lighting the world. I am confident it will one day light the Middle Eastern Muslim mind, like it has so much of the rest of the planet. The internet has now shortened that long bridge to a whispering distance away. And I'm confident those voices will change a thirsting people forever.

Freedom is the natural state of man.
