FWIW...and just my opinion....I think we (US Administration) know LOTS more than we would think about Iraq....and Syria, North Korea, etc.... The Government couldn't take both Iraq and the Taliban on at the same time...both the present coalition and time to get prepared for the next eventuality... I read or heard someplace that it took the US 4 1/2 months after Pearl Harbor to get troops and weapons in place....and 2 1/2 years to get to Europe in WWII. And yes....it may be a trial balloon .... but what other alternative is there?
