One thing I haven't read is whether older model planes still in production, such as the 737 that you most frequently find in short haul markets (and on all Southwest Airlines flights), switched over to composites at some point. I have no doubt that the original 737's didn't use composites, but do the new ones use them?

Another dilemma is that newer planes crash less frequently than old ones, but older ones are more likely to be made of metals and not composites.
