Like metals that are bent back and forth until they break create clean breaks. I have never seen a composite anything break cleanly because the failure layer breaks first on through the other layers but not in the same place or at the same time. When you take a sheet of plywood (which is a composite) and do your kick test you will find the nastiest, jagged break you will ever see.
