Duke of URL, Thanks for explaining the foundation tax background. My information came from a background article posted on this board. It appears the reporter got the 5% upside down and side ways. I think it said 5% of the assets had to be distributed to retain it's tax free status. At the time, it struck me that foundations might not survive a bad economy under that rule. Your facts are much more realistic and makes better sense. It allows foundations to grow some over the years and requires them to be active. NW
