Thanks for explaining the foundation tax background. My information came from a background article posted on this board. It appears the reporter got the 5% upside down and side ways. I think it said 5% of the assets had to be distributed to retain it's tax free status. At the time, it struck me that foundations might not survive a bad economy under that rule. Your facts are much more realistic and makes better sense. It allows foundations to grow some over the years and requires them to be active.
