In the name of Allah the most Gracious the most Merciful Message from Sheikh Ahmed Yassin to Arab and Islamic peoples in general and to the Palestinian people in particular on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan All praises are to Allah and peace be upon His messenger Mohammed, his family, companions and all those who propagate his message till the Day of Judgment. Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh Muslim brothers in the eastern and western hemispheres … with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan I address these words to you from amongst the wounds, the open wounds that are bleeding, from amongst the tears of bereaved mothers, orphans and captives in occupation jails … from amongst the tears of a besieged and oppressed people, whose houses are being destroyed, trees uprooted, children, women and elderly killed. From these realities on the land of Palestine, the land of Isra’ and Mi’rage, from the precincts of Al-Quds and the Aqsa, the Muslims’ first Qibla, from this holy land I address these words seeking the Ummah’s united efforts. Blood is being shed here (in Palestine) and there in Afghanistan and in various areas of the world. The Islamic Ummah is disintegrated; the Muslim people are oppressed and downtrodden. The American and international aggression and oppression against Muslims are taking place everywhere. Why are we in this bad situation? Why does this not move in us the forces of belief, determination and sacrifice? Why the weakness? Why the fear? Why don’t we seek martyrdom? Because those who seek martyrdom are awarded with life and those who seek life lose life. O Muslims wake up and return to your Deen (religion) to the embraces of Allah’s Book and Sunna of His prophet, peace be upon him, because they are the (main) source and the strength and the final message that came to save the world “We sent thee not, but as a mercy for all creatures.” Dear brothers and sisters: sons and daughters of great Islam everywhere … Jihad is a Fard (compulsory duty) on each one of you to establish the rule of Allah on Earth and to liberate our countries and ourselves from occupiers, aggressors and tyrants. It is a battle of life or death, victory or martyrdom; so live up to your pledge with Allah, “then anyone who violates his oath, does so to the harm of his own soul, and anyone who fulfils what he has covenanted with Allah, Allah will soon grant him a great Reward.” America angered over the disaster that befell it launched a terrorist offensive against the Muslim Ummah in Afghanistan and Islamic Mujahid movements everywhere in Palestine and Kashmir … in service of (Israel). Our innocent people are killed here and there and everywhere in the world. Who is getting angered at their death? Where are the Ummah’s protectors? Where are its kings? Where are its leaders? The Ummah is beseeching you; Al-Quds is appealing to you O Muslims. Is anyone going to answer? We must employ all our means to confront the aggression on our Ummah “Allah hath purchased of the Believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the Garden (of Paradise): they fight in His Cause, and slay and are slain”. Muslims should carry out Jihad with their own selves and money and if they could not they should equip a fighter for the cause of Allah or cater for that fighter’s family. All Muslims and believers must prepare themselves for a lengthy battle because this century is the century of Islam, the century of liberation, the century of victory and sovereignty. All those oppressive regimes will fall God willing with our determination and sacrifice and we will be the future (ruling) power Insha’allah “Such days (of varying fortunes) we give to men and men by turns”; so live up to your pledge with Allah and Allah will be with you. Followers of great Islam … our Palestinian people vow before Allah then before you that they will never surrender, compromise or raise the white flag and they will persist in Jihad and sacrifice despite displacement, siege, starvation, murder and destruction. They are determined to attain their rights and liberate their lands and holy shrines no matter how long it takes until either victory or martyrdom.
