If a gay person has a high desire to lead youth why not form an organization of youth to lead of their own? There are probably other areas of departure from what the scouts represent that they could incorporate into their new organization. Seems like the perfect answer to me.

They may have done a great job, but fear of exposure was a constraint on their behavior, and, in any case, if they were unknown, they could not weigh heavily on the imagination of the parents. Remember, these are different times. A couple of years ago, a gay pride parade in Washington D.C. featured lesbians with their shirts off, men dressed as nuns, and an exhibit hall that permitted NAMBLA to have a booth. Gays have become much more aggressive in seeking acceptance as an equal lifestyle, and some gays will not repudiate NAMBLA, although some do, of course........
