Rare here, but a flower to be cherished when it blooms.

Let's see whether we can reach another agreement.

A friend of mine, a former high CIA official, is totally skeptical about the "accident" report of several recent airliner crashes. He points out that these flights that have previously unknown mechanical problems (center fuel tanks that blow up, tail fins that fall off) all have flown out of JFK. Aircraft take off from Heathrow, Ben Gurien, from airports all of the US and the world, from places where terrorists are known to operate, and nothing goes wrong, except for the obvious bomb on the Pan Am crash in Lockerbie, and yet jets take off from JFK and crash for totally unknown reasons. He is convinced that the problem is on the ground at JFK, perhaps in the maintenance shops, perhaps elsewhere, but that the Amerian people are basically being lied to about this because the higher ups think we can't stand to know the truth (and perhaps they're right.)

But turbulence making a tail fin fall off? Give me a break.

Also, he has spoken to a friend of his, a pilot who flew the exact airplane that blew up as Flight 700, flew it many, many times, and gives no credence to the theory that some spark or wiring or something accidental blew the center fuel tank.

Do you think these things are just coinciental accidents all coming out of JFK? Or is something more sinister at work?

All I know is that the next time I fly out of NY, I'm NOT flying out of JFK! (In is apparently no problem.)
