Joe,

During Intel's last CC, Paul Otellini told the investment community that the P4 is the highest performing PC processor, and that if you look on the web you will see that it wins in the majority of benchmarks. Otellini knew that it was a lie when he said it. He knew that it was a lie in Intel's attempt to mislead investors about Intel's relative competitive position. Will these guys ever learn? Not until there are consequences. As Andy Bryant would say, in his unintelligible drool, "that's the benefit of being Intel". We shall see. I continue to look forward to lawsuits that will be forthcoming.

Pravin.

They must be shipping production units to make a statement like that.

Rereading the article, it is Compaq talking about not shipping any production Itanium systems, not Intel.

Intel obviously does consider Itanium production-worthy (lower standards than Compaq?), and they have probably sold enough processors to the OEMs to justify their claim of some revenue generation.
