The biggest problem with using the SSN is that is the number your entire financial history is under. PM me your number and in less the a couple of hours I can hose your financial life to the point that it would take you years to fix it. I don't need your name or anything from you other then that number. In 2 hours I will give you your correct name and 60% of your life history. You will also have a whole bunch of credit cards you didn't know about along with my new car loan:) It's not a number that should be advertised.
