"I suspect Bin Laden does fear death. Why else would he run?"

He is obligated to the Al-Quaida agenda. He must do everything he can to lead it to a successful outcome; that involves doing what he can to stay alive in his leadership role. I can't say for a fact that he does not fear death as that is in his heart. But, the common teaching for the kind of effort he is waging is that death in the effort is better, far better than life without it.

He runs to AVOID death, Bill. There is a huge difference. He would probably like to go straight to the virgins, but THAT would probably make him despicable to his followers.

Believe me, my natural humanity cries out for revenge against those creatures. I would love nothing better than that he face death, and suddenly come to believe that the 72 virgins and the eternal love of Allah was all an illusion. Destroy any of their fanatical faith, and I bet you destroy their bravery. But how do you destroy the faith of a fanatic?

It hurts that they will never get to know what bastards they were...
