Well, of course it is. Government should, however, limit itself to things that it can do better than a private enterprise.

What we don't want is what ruined the Russian economy--government attempts to run things better done by individual managers and owners, such as bakeries, grocery stores, plumbing companies, and so on. Here, government monopoly leads to inferior products and services.

But would you want to have free-enterprise fire departments?
