I think Osama is absolutely awful, but one of the most awful things about him is that he does not seem to be affected by the normal fears most people have- fears of being annihilated with one's family, for example. In fact, reading many of the interviews with him, I come to the conclusion he may find annihilation, especially a really spectacular annihilation, welcome. People who are willing to die for a cause in which they believe utterly (and who want to take other people with them) are about the scariest people on Earth. I think Osama is one of those people. I hardly see how they can be called cowards. Although I am happy to call them many other things.
