there's a book, 'yucatan: before and after the conquest' by friar diego de landa... he ordered the destruction of vast libraries. when they heard about it back in spain they asked him what was going on. he went home and at an inquest said, 'don't worry, i destroyed their abominable libraries, but i have their contents up here (pointing at noggin).' so he wrote the book. he was the sole source for the recountings of vast amounts of destroyed aboriginal records. andy
