Interesting dream. It reminds me of a joke I once heard about a heart pacemaker. The punch line was that someone invented a Pace Maker that was guaranteed for the life of the user. "I have had a dream in which I am in charge for as long as I live," This doesn't necessarily mean he has to stay in Kandahar. And he would probably fight to the death if it was a choice of surrendering. When he dies the dream comes true. If he doesn't he maintains control of Kandahar. He could even claim to be in charge of the Taleban from prison.
