Stray oil tanker without crew intercepted off Iranian coast irna.com Bushehr, Nov 20, IRNA -- A stray oil tanker without any crew on board drifted into Iranian territorial water in the Persian Gulf off Forouzan and Soroush oil fields, announced the head of the oil field in Kharg Island Abbas Ghazi on Tuesday. Speaking to IRNA, he said since the tanker has entered Forozan and Soroush oil fields, a tug-boat is now controlling the stray tanker. Due to stormy weather and rough sea, it is impossibile to tug the tanker to safety, he said. "Since no group has boarded the tanker, we have no information on the nationality and the amount of oil carried by the tanker," he said. "Due to timely decision, the tanker has not created any problem for our oil fields in the region," he said. "In case we manage to take over the controls, the tanker would be towed to Kharg island or Bushehr port to discharge its cargo," he said. MM/AH End Regards, t.
