I don't doubt this country can help lead us out of the current recession. I fully expect to see a worse recession though, before the decade is out. Won't belabor the point; just keep your mattresses full and time'll tell.

Good points, and we are certainly better off than the Japanese, who seem to have no political will to right their economy. They have hard choices to make and they aren't making any.

I think that some public debt is required to maintain liquidity and orderly markets.

I am just sick of the lies that come out of D.C., we never had a balanced budget if one back's out Social Security revenues. We are the strongest economy in the world and enjoy a very "free" existence, but is that any reason to stop here? No way, our society can be even better, but its seems we're content in staying in neutral. Surely our political system has back tracked rather than made advancements, money, greed and power are as corrupting as they ever were today.
