yeah i used it on Bullpen lake.... (http://www.tahoesbest.com/trailbook/CarrLaketoPennerLake.pdf) U ever been there? its off of highway 20 on the bowman exit... Last time i tried the road it was getting to the point where 4x4 was the best way to attempt access. to get to the dam area on the other end of the road, if you don't have 4x4, ur pretty much out of luck. fwiw, my wife and I hiked up a not so popular logging road from carr lake that takes you up fall creek mountain. We saw a couple of bears.
