The Brits happen to have a far simpler tax system than the US does.
I notice you didn't say lower.

I didn't say lower, nor did I say higher. Because that wasn't the point. There seems to be a consensus in the US for a simpler tax collection system. The Brits have one. Are we afraid of looking at the tax collection system because their tax rates are different? Your argument is making the unintended implication that a simpler tax collection system is necessarily associated with higher taxes.

Yup, the gov't could provide lots more health care. For a cost.....

That didn't have much to do with my particular point in the previous post... but since you bring it up.

You're probably aware that the internet protocols emerged out of DARPNET, a federally funded effort. You're probably aware that some other initiatives such as http emerged from Switzerland. There was something else that came out of Britain, but I don't recall at 7:00 AM what it was. Take a look at the annual Internet meetings, companies and countries represented from all over the world. When I was doing some business analysis on internet security companies, I was struck and somewhat surprised at the dominance of non-US companies. On a technical basis, the better technologies were dominated by foreign companies. For example, Checkpoint was/is the dominant firewall used throughout government, including the DoD. Checkpoint is a company based in Israel and the code written in Israel. Suck on that one, as in a pipe, for national security.

As I'm sure you know, CAT is an acronym of "computed axial tomography".

No, I didn't

Addendum: You sly devil, sneaking in those hidden information nuggets. You didn't mention that the CAT Scan machine was invented by a Brit., Sir Godfrey Newbold Hounsfield. Cool.

Thanks,
