CB, might I suggest this organization. I personally know the founder Rick Koca, he is a person of immense integrity, compassion and dedication.

He retired form the Navy as a Commander and now flies around the country on his own dime to expand the reach of this organization. He is not paid a dime. Everyone is a volunteer. Every dollar goes directly toward the children in the form of blankets, food, clothing, and sometimes shelter. The need it tremendous.

This web site was created by a volunteer. The server was donated, even the refrigerators used to store the food are kept at volunteer homes.

In light of the scams of the big charities, the best way to donate is to give directly to charitable funds set up by groups of families. I'm looking at them now.
