A M S,

Re: Surely our political system has back tracked rather than made advancements, money, greed and power are as corrupting as they ever were today.

Very true in regard to national politics. It is highly disappointing that the same cabal of Republican "leaders" like Delay, Lott and Armey are so resistant to both federalizing the airport security industry and any sensible campaign reforms to remove the taint of special interest lobbying from their agenda. Crony capitalism at its most crass.

OTOH, the civil service system on the local and state level seems alive and well. In that regard, I think we can agree that we are better off today, with regards to corruption, than we were 100 years ago.

OT - Re: I think that some public debt is required to maintain liquidity and orderly markets.

I'm wondering if you could PM me with some thoughts in this regard? It seems OT here at FADG. FWIW, I tend to disagree with your statement. :)

Have a Great Thanksgiving! Ray
