Yes, the anti-MSFT position seems to be that MSFT succeeded unlike any before it in somehow managing to fool all the people all the time. It's an interesting viewpoint but doesn't square with the facts. People put up with the instability of Windows 9x because the benefits were worth it. The fact that XP now offers all of those benefits plus lots more and does so with rock-solid stability is why it is and will continue to be the most successful MSFT product to date.
