That's totally true. As an attorney part of whose practice is divorce work, I see weekly the effects that hateful words can have on the children of the marriage. It's hard in divorce situations not to throw hurtful words when you're trying not to; it's impossible if you aren't. And the wounds imposed on children take years to heal, if they ever do. I have a childrens' therapist who's office is right across the hall from mine, and my clients could probably keep her in business all by themselves if they were prepared to give their kids the emotional support they deserve.
