Hi climber,

I'm proud of the state I live in. Not only have we replaced a gay-bashing, mysogynistic, fundamementalist loser as the chief of police in Portland, we are also defying the evil fundamentalist cant coming out of the Bush regime in regards to a humane decision that this state made several years ago regarding our right to die with dignity.

Buried in the news of anthrax and Afghanistan last week was a news item of particular importance to Oregonians, an enlightened and tolerant citizenry. We were basically told by a repressive, totalitarian-biased, religious lunatic national Attorney General that the will of the people doesn't mean squat. That a vote by the citizens of this state could be overturned by the superior force of a national government that is, IMHO, basically running off the tracks**. At least the tracks of democracy as we've evolved them for the last 225 years in this nation.

**so much for the notion that the Republicans are the champions of 'states rights'. This proves that the consolidation of power for evil, and really dumb purposes is the Republican agenda.

Compare and contrast our state with those of the Republican "leadership" (gawd, I use this term advisedly)

The map speaks for itself. If you want to live in a police state, keep on voting for the current bunch of clowns we've been saddled with. Me? I prefer a democracy. Naive, I know, I know....
