Frankly, I suspect that all that fuss about Muslim financial networks as clandestine conduits for terrorists is a HOAX. A clever one though.... See, the Europeans are the more sanguine about it --why? I guess because millions over millions of North African (Muslim) immigrants have been working hard in Europe over the past 30 years --and still feel alienated in their host countries.... Hence most of them open a bank account with a North African (or Turkish) bank and get a slice of their savings back home.

Keep in mind that --as pointed out in a BusinessWeek article a coupla years ago-- Turkish workers in Germany make up a net contributor to Germany's total tax revenues. Moreover, since most immigrants are denied employment in white-collar sectors, they must try their luck as self-employed shopkeepers and business(wo)men. Now, throw in the demographics pattern and you get the full picture: the savings of those millions of Muslim workers are just spirited away from Western banks and end up in the coffers of Muslim finance...
