Hi Jim,

What you are doing is looking at this from the Allied point of view. I was attempting, without success for you as a reader, to try to convey what was in the minds of the Japanese elite. They had no interest in limiting expansion and militarism. For them, it was a swell racket. What troubled them was the Western interference in Asian affairs.

The world is entirely more interesting when you try to examine it from a multilateral perspective. A good idea if you ever seek a career in lawyering. <g>
