Why is it necessary to call him an "American hater" and to call him names?
You could instead say that you feel his positions run counter to American interest, and you could set out why you think that logically. You could say you feel he is misguided, and you could give examples. But to presume from his arguments (which he obviously thinks will improve America) he hates America, makes anyone not of your persuasion turn off from whatever you've said previous to verging into invective against the man.

Of course I am assuming you want to communicate with people who do not already believe exactly what you believe. Perhaps this assumption if not correct.

I used to be a Chomsky fan, as well, mostly because I really appreciate really smart people. I haven't followed him that closely so I don't know when or why his brain got out of gear, but I agree that it has.

Do you think by posting that I was indulging in "uncomplicated patriotism"?

Not at all. The "uncomplicated" aspect comes from a simplistic, black and white way of looking at things. You and I are both able to differentiate among various features. You don't always choose to do so, though... <g>
