Hey, that's great! I think they should be able to bid. After all, the bid should incorporated the wear and tear on the land. I consider the item to be a national asset. If one group wanted to turn Gettysburg into an amusement park for tourists and the other wanted to do restorations, but both wanted to pay the same amount, is it really the same KIND of use?

It has been too long that western ranchers have considered it their absolute right to pollute stream channels and overgraze the meadows so someone can eat a steak that is cheaper by $.10 / lb.

Environmentalists may outbid ranchers

Great. If environmentalists want to put there money where there mouth is they can control the use of the land. I agree that they should have just as much right as any one else to bid on it.
