Could it not be that there is fact one God, one Truth and that Jesus and Muhammad were two 'Mediums' or Prophets who in their own language, own culture, own time in history, own style or purpose communicated the Truth of God in their own effective way. So here we are, centuries later, arguing in English in our modern day world, over the translations and interpretations of their teachings. Is there any wonder there are inconsistencies and discrepancies?
Reminds me of the childhood game where we all sat in a circle and whispered a story into our neighbours ears and round and round it went until the story was totally distorted. That happened to a simple story in a span of several minutes. Imagine what centuries and countless generations can do to a whole Book.

But I must say it all serves as stimulating conversation. Peace to all,
hkl

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

<it's also saying that those who do not believe God sent his only begotten Son shall not have eternal life but rather shall perish.> I disagree!

Actually my interpretation is - if I may use another less threatening analogy -
"If you catch the 3:16 bus, you will not go downtown but will go uptown. However, if you don't, you can still get uptown but you might have to take a taxi." See the difference?

humbly,
hkl

Chris, Quran states that Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them all) are messengers of God... and that a believer is one who believes in all of them ...

however, there are verses in the Qur'an that refers to religious figures of Judaism and Christianity and states that they changed the word of God to suite their wishes and desires ... and in fact challenges the same issue you raise... that only Jews or Christians would go to Heaven...

I wanted to get you the verses' references in Qur'an, but decided not to delay responding to you any longer... I will try to look up the verses and post them here later though.
